One thing I've learned after almost 20 years in real estate is that most people don't wake up one morning and think, "You know what sounds fun? Selling my house."
Usually, something happened.
Someone lost a job.
Money got tight.
A marriage ended.
A loved one passed away.
A new baby arrived, and suddenly the house feels too small.
The kids moved out, and now it feels too big.
Health changed.
A dream job came along in another city.
Life has a way of making decisions for us.
People often think REALTORS® spend their days talking about square footage, interest rates, and market statistics. Those things matter, of course. But what I spend far more time talking about is life.
I've sat at kitchen tables with people trying not to cry because they're packing up the home where they raised their children.
I've helped families sell a parent's home after a loss, knowing every room holds a memory.
I've worked with couples navigating separation, where emotions are already running high and the last thing they want is one more difficult decision.
I've helped people who simply couldn't afford to stay anymore, and that conversation is never easy.
Real estate isn't just about buying and selling property.
It's about people going through some of the biggest transitions of their lives.
Sometimes those transitions are exciting.
Sometimes they're heartbreaking.
Sometimes they're both.
If you're going through one of those seasons, I hope you know this: you don't have to have everything figured out before you reach out. You don't even have to know if selling is the right decision.
